poetry sounds

At first I thought rhyme was when two words make the same sounds, but learned that I was correct.An example of a poem with end rhyme is below. The title is "How was your day?", and the author is Dreamer. The rhyme scheme is aa,bb,aa,cc,d,e,f. I am not sure what I was graded on my poetry pre-test, but I want to earn at least an at grade level on my poetry post-test.



We are friends from far away.
When we talk we always have something to say.
Our lives so different yet the same.
Every night we play the game.
We talk of families and about our day.
I always wonder if there's more to say.
Could it have been different for you and I?
Or was fate decided before we could have tried?
For now we play our parts, that's all that's left;
Never knowing if our hearts would have met.
Two people from far away, always asking, "How was your day?".

Twenty-five Random Things About Me.

Here are twenty-five random things about me...

1)One of my most favorite colors is pink.
2)Occasionally I can be very annoying.
3)I am a very kind person.
4)One of my most favorite holidays is Valentine's day.
5)People often seek me out for solutions to their problems.
6)One day I wish to become a therapist or someone in the business of helping people.
7)I really enjoy writing poetry as an outlet for my feelings.
8)I love my memories so I almost never throw away,or get rid of anything.

10)I can not stand the smell or taste of barbecue sauce.
11)I have a very hard time sitting down once i become active for the day.

Imagery

At first, I thought imagery was use of words to create an image, but this was wrong. Actually, imagery is language that appeals to the five senses. I also learned about figurative language. I used to think figurative language was things like idioms, personifications and metaphors, but I learned that figurative language is a word or phrase that describes one thing in terms of another and is not meant to be understood on a literal level. The three main types of figurative language are similes, metaphors, and personification.

“Third Quarter Goals 2008.”

This quarter, I will earn a better grade in Ms.Priesters class. In order to achieve this, I will participate more and start to complete more of my homework.

This quarter, I will work on my rude comments about Robert. In order to achieve this, I will not talk to him, and I will ignore his comments towards me.


This quarter, I will earn better grades in all of my classes. In order to achieve this, I will do more of my work and stop getting distracted during class.

So Out of My Mind!!

I really need to go on pass. I just need a break from all of this
I just want some time with people who understand that I have a lot
of things on my mind and sometimes I need to be left alone.I miss my
mom and my brother a lot. my house parents kids are starting to drive
me crazy!!ugggg..I think I need professional help!or at least some
space .
I just feel like breaking down.sometimes you just need to cry!thats
what I need to do.

Irony and Ambiguity

At first, I thought irony was when you expect something to happen then the exact opposite happens, but I learned that well, I was right. That is what irony means. There are three types of irony: Situational irony, Dramatic irony and verbal irony.
I also learned about ambiguity. I used to think ambiguity was… I did not know what ambiguity was, but I learned that ambiguity is when a part of a text can be taken a number of different ways.
On my irony and ambiguity pretest, I was at grade-level. On my posttest, I hope that I will be above grade-level.

Theme

At first I thought that theme was the moral of the story but I learned that this was wrong.
Actually, theme is the central idea or insight about life and human nature that gives the story meaning. Some themes are universal which means that they are commonly found in the literature of all cultures and ages; the five main genres of literature are non-fiction, fiction, poetry, drama and myth. Since I now understand theme, I can find the theme of my favorite movie. My favorite movie is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The theme of this movie is “love will always triumph over evil”. On my theme pretest, I was below grade level. On my theme post test I hope that I will be at least at grade level.
