A Lost Friend.

(A lost friend is like a lost shoe
It just doesn’t feel right without two)

I recently lost someone very close to me. It is very hard to deal with his death and still go on with day to day life. It somehow feels wrong to still go on normally. I wish we could do something to really honor his memory. I miss him so much!! He lost his life on a motorcycle. It was also due to complications during surgery and internal bleeding. I felt that I needed to say it aloud because many people don’t want to talk about him. They don’t want to think about him because it hurts but I need to for myself.

What Would I Be?

If I could be any animal in the world, I would be a wolf. My favorite animal is the Arctic wolf. Wolves are so beautiful, but they are also very deadly. They are very loyal and have a strong sense of family. They live in packs and help raise the cubs together. The wolves don’t often attack unless provoked, like most animals. I would really enjoy the closeness wolves show with their pack. Wolves have a very fluid way of moving. They walk like dancers. I would love to become a wolf in my next life.

Fourth Quarter Goals 2009

This quarter, I will earn at least a C. In order to achieve this, I will complete my homework and turn my homework in on time.

This quarter, I will stop talking as much. In order to achieve this, I will start my work on time and pay full attention to my work so I can’t talk.

This quarter, I will earn better grades in all of my classes. In order to achieve this, I will study harder and try to turn in my work on time.

Reasponse to President Obama

"It is our responsibility as lawmakers and as educators to make this system work. But it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it. So tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. . . . And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It's not just quitting on yourself, it's quitting on your country – and this country needs and values the talents of every American.

These education policies will open the doors of opportunity for our children. But it is up to us to ensure they walk through them. In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a parent – a mother or father who will attend those parent/teacher conferences, or help with homework after dinner, or turn off the TV, put away the video games, and read to their child. I speak to you not just as a president, but as a father when I say that responsibility for our children's education must begin at home.”

-President Barack Obama, 2/24/09

Obama is completely right. The country can not afford to have people drop out of school. In order to run the companies we need in the future, we need people who are literate and computer savoy. We need people who have completed collage. Now days all of the job opportunities are in a field with computers and to deal with computers you need an extensive education. People in other countries view us as stupid and ignorant. We need to fix that stereo type. It is completely unfair to us, the children of America, to have to live in a country where they are viewed as stupid.

poetry sounds

At first I thought rhyme was when two words make the same sounds, but learned that I was correct. An example of a poem with end rhyme is below. The title is "How was your day?", and the author is Dreamer. The rhyme scheme is aa,bb,aa,cc,d,e,f. I am not sure what I was graded on my poetry pre-test, but I want to earn at least an at grade level on my poetry post-test.

We are friends from far away.
When we talk we always have something to say.
Our lives so different yet the same.
Every night we play the game.
We talk of families and about our day.
I always wonder if there's more to say.
Could it have been different for you and I?
Or was fate decided before we could have tried?
For now we play our parts, that's all that's left;
Never knowing if our hearts would have met.
Two people from far away, always asking, "How was your day?".
